 #a man who starts out so fresh and full of life and desperately in love with a girl and free of some of the torment he’d felt before #and then he loses little pieces of innocence with each passing day #and then rose falls and he’s so very ready to let it all end #just to sleep forever #and then he’s saved by donna noble and martha jones #and donna says no #and martha gets out #and more wonderful friends come and go #and donna comes back and maybe he’s getting back to some semblance of happiness #and rose returns and oh #things go wrong and he gives rose a choice #and he takes donna’s choice away #and then the master #and by the end of it all #after he’s been so burned by the universe #after he’s literally burned for an old man with unyielding faith in him #after losing everything but the one constant companion he’s ever had #he still doesn’t want to let go of his love and his passion and his pain #he doesn’t want to become some other man who saunters away from who he is #and that hurts more than anything
